Prince Saint Emery
According to the tradition, St Emery – son of St Stephan, first king of Hungary of the Árpád dynasty – was born in Székesfehérvár. Prince Emery, who died at a young age in a hunting accident, is the patron saint of Hungarian young people. In Hungarian history has always stood as a symbol of hope, future, youth, possibility of a new beginning. Together with St Stephen and St Ladislaus he has become a symbol of the sovereignty of the Hungarian State.
After his early death, St Emery was the first person in Hungarian history to be venerated as a saint. After his canonization in 1083 his cult spread all over Europe. Documents of it can be found everywhere in the territory of the Carpathians, in Southern Europe from Naples to Zagreb, in Poland, in Western Europe from Vienna to Brussels. The Diocesan Museum of Székesfehérvár has recently opened an international exhibition presenting the life and the cult of St Imre.
Our school is named after Saint Emery who is the exemplar of the children. The painters and sculptors illustrate him with a beautiful flower, the white lily, which is the symbol of the purity, the generosity, the modesty and the fidelity to the God.
