The Primary School of Cruz d’Areia has got a very special classroom – a Structured Classroom of Autism.
In such a special classroom a huge amount of different activities are developed by seven boys and girls, aged between three and ten years old, always helped by two teachers of Special Education. Here they learn to read and write, to calculate, to colour, to work with the computer… to grow up.
These students also go to their regular class and are with their colleagues every day (some time each day).
In addition to the activities developed by the teachers of Special Education, also work in this classroom an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Therapist, who teach many things through play.
There are other activities in this classroom, such as yoga, swimming and music therapy. The students love to participate in all of these activities.
There are also in this classroom, to help students in all activities, a full-time employee and three employees four hours a day.
The boys and the girls who come daily to the Structured Classroom of Autism do really nice things and learn a lot, always with great affection and dedication, so this is a place where everyone works with joy and feels very well.
